Many people are wary of buying a HEPA filter for dust control because they have had a bad experience with a store bought air filter. The problem with most store bought filters is that they are simply too small. They have only small amounts of air filtering carbon in them and low CFM (cubic feet per minute) fan speeds. Although some filters might be rated for a room size of 400 sq.ft it doesn't hurt to use a HEPA filter with a larger sq.ft rating. It will filter more dust, and do so more efficiently.
